Based on 37 reviews Yanice Urriola C Johnson I had a horrible experience here and will make sure to take all future business elsewhere. I am still reeling from the sheer amount of time and money I wasted because of this business. I have two very large antique maps that were in bad shape that I took her to be restored. Every step along the way, I explained that the only reason I was restoring them was so that I could hang them and display them on my wall. I said this probably every time I talked to them. And I paid over $2,000 EACH to get them restored It took months longer than they said it would, which didn't bother me too much, except I did express that I was excited to be able to hang them for Christmas buy they were not finished until long after that. Then, when I go to pick them up after class to a year of them having them, I am ready to put them in my car and say I can't wait to hang them. That's when they tell me, oh no, you can't hang these. The only way, according to them, that I could possibly display them, would be to have them framed. (They are also a frame shop). I was so horrified to discover that the material they had re-attached my maps to, after removing them from their previous backing, is structurally the equivalent of wet toilet paper. It's completely useless. It rips and tears so easily, there's no way the map could even support itself if you hung it on the wall from the top (you know, the way everyone in the world hangs maps) it would rip and fall apart. Far less sturdy than what it was on when I brought it to them, and now I just paid over $4,000 and waited a year for what? They're "recommending" I get a framing consultation, but they couldn't do it right then so I'd have to come back AGAIN (this was already my third time coming there) to even find out anything at all about how framing would work or what it would cost. More months go by, I own a business and am extremely busy and have NO time to drive all the way there for a framing consultation I never wanted, but they ask when I'm picking up my maps as I had already paid for them long ago. I remember calling/going in at least twice but they were out at lunch or something and didn't do appointments, so I had to come back another time. I made it explicitly clear that I didn't want to come in, I didn't have time, and just wanted a basic price idea on framing and did not care about what kind of frame they used, all I wanted was to display my maps. Nope, absolutely not, you HAVE to come in. Finally, I went in and was able to catch them and got my "consultation" which was an infuriating waste of time. I have no idea why they couldn't do it over the phone. I just reiterated the same thing I said on the phone and just said I wanted the cheap stuff and I wanted a basic price. Well, I sat there for probably over a half hour without getting a single price idea or any useful information at all, I guess she said that they didn't make their framing materials in the right size so she couldn't give me a quote and I'd have to COME BACK IN. I can't. I had to cut it short and tell them I had no idea it would take this long and I had an appointment that I was now running late to, and I left without any price again, after having wasted a solid hour and a half that I did not have to spare on this alone. Then I'm on a trip out of state and get a call from the owner on my cell phone.... A call that could have been an email where he wastes about another 20-30 minutes of my time telling me how they will need to do all this fancy stuff in other to display my maps since the backing they put them on is practically tissue paper. And he STILL won't give me a price, when I ask he pushes me to set an appointment to come in on person again. At 9AM. On Colfax. For what reason? I have no idea. Ended up emailing them to cancel and saying I need to know a price. They tell me it'll be over $4,000 just to frame them! Wow, I wish I had known and saved all of us some time, because there is no way I am spending $8,500 on worthless maps. I wish they had listened to me at any point. Raven Reinmuth I had my painting of my grandfather restored and it was in pretty bad shape when it arrived and Mak took on the restoration and did a fantastic job. I was blown away when I picked it up it was more than I could have asked for. She did an amazing job and really paid attention to all of the small things that matter like the note from my grandfather to my mother, I really appreciate that detail that was saved in the process…THANK YOU!
